The Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku has adopted its 2026/27 Annual Budget, setting the direction for the delivery of essential services, infrastructure maintenance and community priorities across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.

The budget provides a strong financial foundation for the year ahead and reflects Council's ongoing commitment to supporting our communities, maintaining critical infrastructure and planning for a sustainable future across the region.

A major focus of the 2026/27 Budget is the continued investment in the Shire's road network, with approximately $6.1 million allocated towards road projects and maintenance. This includes capital works on Papulankutja Road, as well as ongoing works on the Great Central Road and community access roads that are vital for connecting communities and supporting safe travel throughout the region.

The budget also incorporates significant grant funding, including a $2 million State Initiative Grant to support road maintenance activities. These investments will help ensure the Shire can continue improving transport infrastructure while maintaining reliable access across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.

Other key initiatives include the installation of solar panels at the Tjulyuru Cultural and Civic Centre, supporting the Shire's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, and the continuation of the Working Towards Waste Compliance project to improve waste management practices across the region.

To ensure the Shire can continue delivering services and infrastructure into the future, fees and charges and exploration rates will increase by approximately 8 per cent as part of the 2026/27 Budget.
