We are looking for a full-time Administration Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of the Shire Office.  You will be the first point of contact for enquiries and visitors to the Shire, Cultural Centre, and Warta Shop.  Other key functions, include managing the reception, provide support for council meetings, records compliance, financial administration, and managing the website and Warta Shop services. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is self-reliant as you will be required to work on your own from time to time.

  • Has strong organisational and administrative skills, with experience in records management.
  • Can deliver excellent customer service and communicate confidently with a diverse range of people.
  • Is reliable and able to work independently - including being the only staff member in the office on some days.
  • Can balance routine administration with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Has strong initiative and the ability to solve problems and manage tasks without constant supervision.
  • Demonstrates cultural awareness and respect, with an understanding that Warburton is an alcohol-restricted community where compliance is essential.

Finance Officer

The Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team.

  • Permanent, Full-time
  • Remote work (with some time spent on site in Warburton)

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will be responsible for delivering a broad range of finance functions including accounts payable, procurement including purchase orders, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, and attractive asset register setup and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier invoices, purchasing card transactions, credit notes, and direct debits.
  • Process creditors, debtors, and payroll tasks, including month-end reconciliations.
  • Enter journals, cost allocations, and budget amendments.
  • Prepare and collate information for distribution at Council Meetings and for other internal or external customers as required and as requested.
  • Liaising with the management team to address audit findings and implement risk assessment improvement plan.
  • Ensure you comply with internal control, risk management and legislative compliance with regard to financial matters
  • Support the Finance Manager in timely submission of BAS and ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Processing of end-to-end grant applications
  • Assist the Finance Manager with reporting and other finance functions as required.

 Selection Criteria

  • Experience in local government finance, accounting, ERP systems transitioning or administration (qualifications desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and finance systems (experience with SynergySoft desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small team.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of Aboriginal culture and experience working in remote communities is an advantage.

Environmental Health Officer (Casual / Contractor)

 The Shire is seeking a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Officer to support public health and environmental services across our remote communities. This is a casual or contract role suited to someone looking for flexible engagement. Initially committing to one week per month on-site, with the potential for more or less time depending on operational needs.

Working closely with the CEO and Shire team, you’ll administer and enforce public health and environmental legislation relevant to the Shire.

We’re looking for an adaptable and self-reliant professional with the ability to work collaboratively in a remote context. Experience working with Aboriginal communities and strong cultural awareness will be highly regarded.
